Review: Iron Man 3

Sadly, it has become a habit for Hollywood to jump the shark when it comes to trilogies - all you have to do is look at Spider-Man 3, X-Men: The Last Stand, Matrix Revolutions and the like to gain some idea of how people may be a touch apprehensive about seeing a third installment of a franchise. However, I am more than happy to report that Iron Man 3 bucks that trend completely.

As if we aren't excited enough for Iron Man 3, Marvel has posted up the first trailer for Thor: The Dark World. It's got explosions, massive floating ship thingies and creepy dark elves. Seriously, this looks awesome.

Creating a magic system for USR Fantasy

Creating a magic system is kind of a tough deal. There are so many different avenues one can go down, but you always want to limit magic users so they're not too overpowered. The final piece in the puzzle for USR Fantasy (which isn't necessarily going to be the name of the game) is the magic system, and the one I currently have in there just isn't satisfying to me.

First draft of Death at Grimwood Hall sent to the publisher, and other Trollish Delver Games updates

I've been pretty busy over the past couple of months with various projects which is why I haven't been updating the blog as often as usual. As some of you will know, especially those who follow me on Twitter, my day job is as a PR professional, which is awesome but exhausting work. I fit writing for a digital gaming magazine and freelance RPG writing around that, not leaving much time for anything else, so apologies for the lack of updates.

Abc Family's trailer for Batman Begins misses the point of Batman entirely

You would have thought that pretty much everyone in the world knows who Batman is. Sure, you're going to get the people who still think he's the caped crusader from the Adam West show, but I would say the majority of people now associate him with the dark, brooding character we see now.

Later this month (if you're here in the UK) Iron Man 3 will kick of the second phase in Marvel's bid for total box office domination, following up later in the year with Thor: The Dark World. Now Marvel has released a teasing look at some of the movies that are soon to follow, including art from Guardians of the Galaxy and tester footage of Ant Man.

I'm pleased and hugely excited to welcome to the blog my good friend Amy Byard, who will be recapping season 3 of Game of Thrones. Spoilers ahead!
We've been waiting a long time for Winter, and I'm relieved to say it's finally here.

The
hit HBO success story that is Game of Thrones made its epic return to
our screens last night, picking up where the end of season two left us;
with Sam running through the snow to find his fellow
rangers decapitated by white walkers.
This episode very much ties up lose ends of the last series, whilst setting the scene for season three.
