Deluxe Edition of Tunnels & Trolls confirmed {T&T}

Artist Steve Crompton has confirmed to Trollish Delver that the new edition of Tunnels & Trolls will be released in English, likely in the Summer. The edition will be called Deluxe Tunnels & Trolls and according to Crompton it will contain even more material than the French version.

This is fantastic and really exciting news. Seriously, I'm really giddy. Steve worked on the French edition of the game and has been asked to put together an English version to land mid-2012. I'll be covering all the news leading up to the launch and I'll try and nab some great interviews for your delectation.

  3. This is truly awesome news. I very nearly bought the French one off Lulu. ... mind you, it might still be fun to work it all out!

  4. I'm not familiar with the contents of the French edition, what all is in it? Is it going to be T&T 5.x or 7.x?

    1. The French edition is an amalgamation of 5th and 7.5 editions with rule clarifications etc.

  5. The French edition is marketed as "8th edition" (see http://2ndage.blogspot.com/2012/03/t-new-french-language-edition-available.html) but apparently it's more of an improved 7.5.

  6. Billiam (and others), I really hope you will still pick up the French edition, seriously! For one, it will give support to Patrice Geille, the man who took the plunge and ponied up his own money to get new illustrations from me, and pay Steve Crompton to do the layout that is so magnificent. Seriously -- if you can swing it, go get it.

    To be clear: I get no "royalty" or anything else from the purchases of this edition, so that's not the point -- I honestly want to see Pat rewarded for his enormous leap of faith and passion for the game. Because he has opened the door, shown Ken and Rick that real excitement for a new edition is possible, the "deluxe edition" could even be DISCUSSED which I'm not sure would have happened otherwise. Certainly any new editions in English wouldn't have been as good, I believe. Please support Pat here!

    1. Here here! Although I can't read French, I do love the latest edition. Yet again, Liz, you've done some stellar work. I'll make sure that Pat gets all the praise he deserves on this blog.

  7. I totally agree with Liz here. Get the French T&&T book if you want something really cool. There's no guarantee when of exactly what form Deluxe T&T will finally Take. It might not come out for much longer than I had orginally implied. I'm just one tiny part in a much larger production. I'm like a second unit camera man who heard a rumor about a movie he might be working on (if you know what I mean)

  8. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! That's awesome news. I don't like purchasing "new" editions of rule books. I plan to wait.
