Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D pilot premiers at Comic Con to rave reviews

San Diego Comic Con is in full swing and of course Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D is the new hotness that everyone's dying to hear more about. Well, lucky attendees at ABC's panel and pilot screening got a first look of what sounds like it's going to be a winning series.

First off, there was the torrent of twitter reviews about the show's premier, which you can read below.

Secondly, Clark Gregg as Agent Coulson apparently steals the show. According to Entertainment Weekly: "Clark Gregg grounds the drama. I’m not a fan of bringing back firmly and explicitly killed-off characters. But watching the pilot you realize the wisdom of having Agent Coulson. Though a minor role in the films, he’s a very TV-friendly presence here."

On the plot of the pilot itself, io9 does a great recap, pretty much saying that it feels like an old-school premier, instead of having every plot point rammed down the audience's throat: "The whole tone of the pilot is amazingly laid-back — there's almost no real danger or suspense for most of it, and where most TV pilots hammer you with "here's why you should care," Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. assumes you already care. You saw The Avengers five times, right? So you're already on board, and we can just hang out and crack jokes."

Apparently the stakes were low, but it's all the better for it. References akimbo, including stuff straight from the comic books rather than the films, which makes AoS a sure fan-favourite.

Also, Cobie Smulders will be reprising her role as Maria Hill, which is awesome.

Agents of SHIELD premiers on ABC, September 24th.

Stoke stoked stoked stoked.
