D&D Next to launch summer 2014

New edition of D&D receives launch period.

Word has come out from the big W that D&D Next will be coming to a tabletop near you in the summer of next year.

In a bafflingly weird press release, Wizards announced that the rules were finalized and they thanked everyone who took part in the public beta testing, which ran for two years. Two years, guys!

Yep, I'm excited. I enjoyed the beta rules enough but it does worry be somewhat when a press release says: "Players fight the most fearsome monster of all time in an exciting multi-platform gaming experience."

What the jolly hell are they waffling on about now? The most fearsome monster? I'm assuming the multi-platform gaming experience alludes to novels, videogames etc tying into the game. Unless they're still trying to harness the MMO crowd a la 4e.

Here's the full release.

Will you be running the new edition?
